{"id":67482,"date":"2025-03-05T03:05:25","date_gmt":"2025-03-05T01:05:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fondazioneguidovenosta.org\/?post_type=protagonista&#038;p=67482"},"modified":"2025-04-16T21:50:58","modified_gmt":"2025-04-16T19:50:58","slug":"giorgina-venosta-portraits-giorgina-and-work","status":"publish","type":"protagonista","link":"https:\/\/www.fondazioneguidovenosta.org\/en\/protagonista\/giorgina-venosta-portraits-giorgina-and-work\/","title":{"rendered":"Giorgina Venosta \u2013 Portraits: Giorgina and Work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<b>Giorgina began working out of necessity, following her separation from her first husband, Bernardo Caprotti, who left her with nothing.<\/b><br \/>\nIn the photo above, she is at\u00a0<i>Corriere della Sera<\/i>, where she began her professional journey and where her friendship with Giulia Maria Crespi\u2014<i>la grande dame<\/i>\u00a0of the newspaper and the one who would steer it toward a more modern identity\u2014deepened.<\/p>\n<p>She had to make a living, and determination was never lacking. Strikingly beautiful and naturally elegant, she could hardly go unnoticed: an old, faded newspaper page from 1964 still shows her, full-page, as a model in an Emilio Pucci fashion show.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, little by little, she began to find a sense of stability. Her work led her to become a\u00a0<i>&#8220;Rinascentina&#8221;<\/i>, a woman employed at\u00a0<i>La Rinascente<\/i>\u00a0in Milan\u2014a hotbed of new ideas and trends in fashion and interior design during the 1960s and 1970s. Here, she worked alongside extraordinary and talented women such as Adriana Botti Monti, her lifelong friend and the department store\u2019s Art Director, and Rosellina Archinto, who, before becoming a publisher and much more, also began her career under\u00a0<i>La Rinascente\u2019s<\/i>\u00a0roof.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, Giorgina joined the auction house Christie\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>She was so skilled that when she was promoted to executive in 1981, the director, Edoarda Sanna della Porta, informed her with a letter in which she wrote\u2014almost moved\u2014that there was nothing more she could teach her, as Giorgina had become \u201ctempered, mature, a leader any company would be proud to have and any employee would respect and willingly follow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her determination and experience gave her newfound confidence, and so, a few years later, she embarked on her final major professional adventure: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondazioneguidovenosta.org\/en\/protagonista\/giorgina-venosta-portraits-giorgina-and-art\/\">co-founding the company\u00a0<i>Consulenza d\u2019Arte<\/i>\u00a0with two partners, serving as a certified gemologist<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She retired in 1998, after over thirty years of adventures and hardships that, in the end, gifted her with a truly unique and inspiring professional life.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Bibliography:<br \/>\nG.
