President Sergio Mattarella awards the “Guido Venosta” Prize to Dr. Mario Paolo Colombo of the I.R.C.C.S. National Cancer Institute Foundation – Milan
The “Guido Venosta” Prize [read more here] was awarded to Dr. Mario Paolo Colombo of the I.R.C.C.S. National Cancer Institute Foundation – Milan, in recognition of his lifelong dedication to oncological research. He has contributed original studies in onco-immunology and participated in the design of related clinical trials, held leadership positions in managing and disseminating research, helped build national networks for oncological research integrated into the international arena, and has served as a reference point for many young scientists.
The AIRC “Believing in Research” Award was presented to:
– Gianluigi Buffon, for personally engaging and, as head of the Italian Football Federation National Team delegation, involving young generations in AIRC Foundation’s outreach initiatives. Through genuine participation and sensitivity in sport, he has helped spread AIRC’s values in line with prevention messages promoting healthy lifestyles.
– The Barilla Family, as an example of social commitment, for their constant and generous support of the AIRC Foundation’s mission and for inspiring an increasing number of people to support cancer research.
– Istituto Comprensivo Piaget – Majorana, for its concrete efforts to raise awareness among students about the value of scientific research and the importance of a culture of prevention, especially through the AIRC school project and the active citizenship initiative “Cancro io ti boccio.”
– Penny Italia, for its active involvement alongside the AIRC Foundation on cancer prevention issues, communicating and proposing concrete actions to its customers for a healthy lifestyle, starting with nutrition.
