Establishment and management of Casa della Carità in Seregno

When 2021 - 2022

Objectives and activities carried out, in summary

Fondazione Guido Venosta financed the necessary adaptations of the building that the Comunità Pastorale di Seregno received on loan from the Congregazione delle Figlie della Carità di S. Vincenzo de’ Paoli, in order to establish the “Casa della Carità di Seregno.” This facility serves as a gateway to solidarity open to the entire city, with the aim of engaging the whole community in sharing values, perspectives, rights, duties, and responsibilities.

The new Casa della Carità— the first of its kind in Brianza— hosts the Caritas listening center; it provides a space for the “Cold Emergency” program (active from November to April); and it operates the “Mensa della Solidarietà,” which offers approximately 25 meals per day. In addition, it features a solidarity emporium where families in need can receive free groceries via a dedicated card, along with shower and laundry services, and a prompt medical assistance service for homeless individuals.

Moreover, the facility includes a medical/nursing outpatient clinic, an Italian language school for foreigners, a sewing and tailoring course, the “Mother-Child Community,” the San Vincenzo Conference—which manages the distribution of food, clothing, and home visits to families in need—the Life Assistance Center, and the Carla Crippa association, which for 25 years has implemented social projects, particularly in support of the children of prisoners in Bolivia.
