“Ri-Abitiamo Milano”: Involving 7,500 Milanese Students in the Improvement of their City”
Objectives and activities carried out, in summary
A project launched by Amici della Triennale, “Ri-Abitiamo Milano” involves Milanese students in rethinking the spaces of their city, in line with the principles underlying the “Fridays for Future” movement and the sustainable development goals set for 2030. The aim of the project was to encourage students to transform their reflections into concrete proposals to make Milan a more sustainable city.
The project involved 200 schools—including classical, artistic, and scientific high schools—and 25,000 students, and concluded with an awards ceremony at the Triennale. The proposals developed by the students, ranging from the revitalization of entire neighborhoods to the redevelopment of abandoned areas, were evaluated by a jury composed of architect Mario Cucinella, scientist Stefano Mancuso, journalist and writer Alessandra Viola, and the Board of Directors of Amici della Triennale.
After a shortlist of thirty projects, the winners of this edition were: Davide Fatini and Dylan Amoruso for their proposal to redevelop the former Innocenti industrial area; the “Permaculture for Making Public Green Spaces More Suited to Milan” project by Carolina Bagnasacco, Arianna Fantoni, and Lavinia Taverni; and the enhancement of the Jewish quarter by Alessia Nassimiha, Yael Recanati, Gabriel Loley, Jonathan Vona, and Dan Hasbani. Each of the three winners received a cultural voucher worth 1,000 euros (redeemable for books, audiovisual materials, and digital programs). The project saw participation from various schools, including Caravaggio Artistic High School, Tito Livio Classical High School, and Federico Jarach Scientific High School of the Comunità Ebraica.
