Giorgina Venosta – Portraits: Giorgina and Art

by Eleonora Sàita and Giuseppe Caprotti

Giorgina loves art, becoming an expert. Among her friends are genuine artists—not necessarily limited to traditional fields such as painting and sculpture: the “archistars” who surround her, from Pierluigi Cerri to Gae Aulenti, are architects as well as designers, with art always permeating their work. Tomàs Maldonado, partner of Inge Feltrinelli, born a painter and a founding member of the Argentine avant-garde group Arte Concreto, later in life becomes a writer, focusing mainly on visual art and information theory. These are close friends of Giorgina, who, first as the head of the Milan branch of Christie’s auction house and later as a partner in “Consulenza d’arte” together with Giovanni Godi and Ludovico Caumont Caimi, surrounds herself with beautiful people and things—so much so that her Milan home deserves a feature in the specialist magazine “Domus.” Even in her passion for art, she embraces solidarity: a close friend of Giulia Maria Crespi, founder of FAI – Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano, she generously supports not only the organization’s core objectives and activities but, together with her second husband Aldo Bassetti, also finances important restorations.
