Giuseppe Caprotti – Guido Venosta Foundation and COVID: Donation of Equipped Stations to the Policlinico of Milan
In April 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Giuseppe Caprotti assumed leadership of the FGV and committed himself to steering it through the many emergencies of the crisis, striving to be of tangible and targeted help. Among these efforts was the donation of complete patient monitoring systems for 12 intensive care beds at the Policlinico of Milan, distributed across two departments. This enhancement in capacity allowed for improved care, and the resulting outcomes brought great joy: the mortality rate at the Policlinico drastically decreased since the onset of the epidemic. These are achievements that fill one with deep satisfaction, making you say, ‘We truly did something.’
In 2023, the Ca’ Granda Foundation, which heads the institution and follows a long-standing tradition, paid tribute to this act of charity by dedicating a portrait to Giuseppe Caprotti, the current President. The portrait was painted full-length by Pietro Guglielmin, a graduate of the Brera Academy and an internationally renowned artist; the painting has become part of the unique collection known as the largest Gallery of Benefactors in Europe. It is an age-old way of expressing gratitude, while simultaneously encouraging charitable deeds, by honoring the benefactor’s memory—a legacy that transcends time and recalls his generosity and commitment to the community. A great honor and joy, much like the sign written in blue by a frontline nurse, exclaiming her thanks!
